Beauty Talks is a space for dialogue, storytelling, and discovering everything surrounding the Hyalustar world, cosmetic research, and more.
In our second installment, we meet Laura Frigerio, a cosmetic researcher.
Hi Laura, welcome. I'll let you introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I'm Laura, I'm 26 years old and I've been a cosmetic formulator for 5 months.
I started my career in cosmetic research about 1 year ago during my Master's thesis project in Biotechnology for the Bio-based and Health Industry at the University of Varese. Now I work in the R&D laboratory and my job is to develop innovative cosmetic formulations.
What is your professional goal?
Being at the beginning of my career, my first goal is to become a good formulator who knows how to develop innovative formulas. We'll see about the future!
In your opinion, what is the added value of a female researcher?
Women, by using cosmetics daily, may have a greater understanding of consumer needs, thus being able to more easily develop products that meet their demands and requirements.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in science?
I have always been attracted to science, to understanding how everything around us is made and how it works.
What makes the difference in dermocosmetics research?
The selection and search for effective, innovative, and safe raw materials is certainly important. It is also essential to conduct clinical studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the products and, finally, to develop eco-friendly and sustainable production processes.
Tell us about your beauty routine: what do you look for and how do you choose the products you use?
My beauty routine starts with facial cleansing, then I apply a moisturizer and finally some light makeup. Since I'm always in a hurry, I choose high-performance and versatile products.
What advice would you give to the researchers of tomorrow?
Be passionate, always curious and creative.
